Books #10, #11, #12

Book #10: The Sleeping Beauty Proposal by Sarah Strohmeyer read on February 4, 2008

Basic Chick Lit.  I enjoyed the book and will probably read more of Sarah's books.  They are basic fun books to read.

Book #11: The Kitchen Boy by Robert Alexander read on February 7, 2008

11 years and counting…

Aveek and I have been married 11 years today.  We were married around 3am on January 31, 1998 in Las Vegas.  The only people who saw us get married (besides the person who married us) were my parents.  We had planned to get married around 1am or so.  I'm not sure if it's still true now, but at the time you could get married at any time in LV.  Our plane was late and my parents luggage was delayed for a bit.  We went and got our marriage license and got ready and then headed over to the chapel.  We were married at the CandleLight Chapel.  We had a quick service and I think he talked about trees

Book #8

Book #8: Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult finished on January 30, 2009

I found this book quite good.  This was the second book of Jodi's that I read; the first one being The Pact.  I wasn't sure if I wanted to start reading her books because of the subjects that she tackles but she is a good writer.  I will say that I did see the twist in the story about half way through the book even though it didn't come out until very close to the end.  Jodi does seem to follow a pattern with her books that I have read in other reviews that she seems to do quite often.  We will see if that

Book #7

Book #7: The Reader by Bernhard Schlink finished on January 25, 2009

This book was a quick read.  We are going to go see the movie soon, so I wanted to read the book first.  I thought it was an interesting story.  It was a little slow in parts and I kind of saw the reason for her choices before hand.  It had a sad ending but nothing that will make you cry (or at least I didn't).

Book #6

Book #6 +: The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski finished on January 24, 2009

I think this books should be counted as two books.  It was 600 pages long!  Most of the books I read are around 300 pages or so.

This was one of the best books I've read in a very long time.  It held my attention through out the whole book.  I was only bored in a few places but I don't hold that against the author.  I truly wanted to know what happened next and what the reason was behind Edgar's life and the dogs' lives.  Now, after saying that, I will say I was very disappointed in the e

Book #4

Book #4: Atonement by Ian McEwan read on January 14, 2009:

This book started out really slow.  I felt that there was too much in the way of descriptions in it.  While it's nice to have the author describe the way a person is dressed and the way the scene looks, sometimes I think you can go overboard.  When you take pages to do that, it's too much, in my opinion.

I think Part II was probably the best part of the book.  To be truthful I didn't like the writing of this book.  I liked the story and thought it was a good idea but the way it was written was not my favorite.  It wa

Book #3

Why in the heck do spammers think they gain anything by sending meaningless messages to my blog comments.  They don't get approved and they just get deleted.  O'well.

Book #3: Brida: A Novel by Paulo Coelho finished on January 8, 2008.

This was a quick ready and short book.  I enjoyed it though.  I believe he was trying to teach a lesson that all the answers aren't out there in your life and you should just live your life and try to be happy.  I would recommend the book.  It was about witches but it was not out there at all.  Kind of cool.

Okay, on to my next book, Atonemen

2 Books down…

So, I've pretty much been writing this blog/note entry for the past 3 hours or so in my head.  That's what I do when I'm shopping and by myself.  :)  So, anyways, I figured since my resolution was to read so many books, that I should keep track of it on my blog.  Of course, I am keeping track of it other places, too -- Collectorz and FB, but I figured why not another place.

So, it's January 5 and I have read 2 books so far.  The first book I finished on January 1 and started before the new year but that one counts because I finished it in 2009.  I probably would have finished the second book

My New Year’s Resolution…

I decided last night my New Year's resolution is to read all of the books that I started but never finished.  :)  Here's the thing, I'm very bad about starting a book and not finishing it if it is REALLY boring.  I figured out while cataloging all my books that I have quite a few books that I never finished.  So, my goal for 2009 is to finish those books.  I figured this is a goal that I can do!

As part of that goal, I want to read some of the classics that for what ever reason I never did read.  I have Emma that I need to read.  Can you believe that I have never read 'To Kill a Mocking Bird'
