Always-on infrastructure

Refers to the onchain infrastructure. Fund dealing terms may differ.

Spiko gives businesses and individuals a direct line to cash funds, and gives financial platforms an API to offer that same yield to their own customers. Its infrastructure runs on public blockchains, Base among them, and it now oversees $2.7 billion in assets. For fintechs, brokerages and crypto apps, it is a working example of an earn product built onchain from the start.

Cash and funds under one roof

Spiko was co-founded by Paul-Adrien Hyppolite and Antoine Michon. Paul-Adrien oversaw the regulation of equity, bond and derivatives markets at the French Treasury. From inside government, the infrastructure behind those markets looked inefficient, and while tokenization dominated the conversation, established players were slow to act. The two left the civil service to build what the market was missing.

In traditional finance, cash and investment funds live in separate buildings, with their own record and opening hours. Moving money between them means a trip across town and a wait for someone to unlock the door. Spiko puts both under one roof. Businesses sign up online, the way they would with any fintech, then move money in and out while Spiko handles the fund subscriptions and redemptions. The cash stays under the control of the business instead of being lent to a third party, and accounting statements, team permissions and instant withdrawals come built in.

“If you think about it, access to yield is still a bit like a class system. So we want to make yield universal.”

Why Base

The roof Spiko chose is a public blockchain. Once money and fund shares are issued on the same ledger, they share one global record that never closes and that no single company owns. Running that model at scale calls for infrastructure that is both cheap and fast, which is what brought Spiko to Base.

An open ledger also answers the first question any treasurer asks before moving money: what exactly am I buying? That matters to ordinary CFOs and treasurers, not just crypto specialists. Onchain, they can inspect a product for themselves before they allocate.

What this enables

For a fintech, brokerage or crypto app, Spiko’s API makes yield a feature rather than a business line. A platform can offer it to clients without launching or running a fund. Close to $10 billion has moved through Spiko’s funds since launch.

The next chapter is geographic: France first, Europe now, the world next. Spiko expects more ordinary companies to hold wallets and run part of their treasury in stablecoins, and it intends for yield to be waiting when they arrive.
